North Ridge special school, Doncaster, praised by Ofsted
GOVERNMENT inspectors have praised a Doncaster special school in its latest Ofsted report.
North Ridge Community School, on Tenter Balk Lane, Woodlands, was described as a good school in all categories by inspectors who carried out an inspection of the school last month.
The school is an all-age special school for pupils with severe learning difficulties.
The report stated pupils made good progress in reading, writing and maths because they were taught well.
Children in the early years foundation stage made good progress in communication and in developing their independence.
The sixth form was outstanding and enabled pupils to gain excellent life-and-work-related skills, and a range of vocational qualifications.
The report said the school was not yet an outstanding school because in a few lessons teachers did not use enough strategies to move the most-able pupils on fast enough in their learning, and its leadership was not stable enough. It currently has an acting headteacher.
