NHS praised for Doncaster patients’ garden project
Pictured in the Windermere Lodge garden are (L-R) RDaSH chairman Madeleine Keyworth; nurse consultant Mark Lawton; Sarah Waller CBE and Hedley Finn, with people who helped on the garden project.
A PROJECT which saw a Doncaster courtyard transformed into a sensory garden has been praised for being a practical, value-for-money example of how organisations can help dementia patients.
The Windermere Lodge garden was created by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust on its St Catherine’s site in Balby, thanks to funding from the Department of Health through the King’s Fund’s Enhancing the Healing Environment dementia care programme.
The fund has featured the project along with 25 others in its Developing Supportive Design for People with Dementia publication, which aims to mark the completion of the four-year dementia care programme
