New scanner appeal get to £200,000
Well done Doncaster! Just five months since the launch of our Scan for Life appeal we are already ONE THIRD of the way towards our target.
Generous townsfolk have already raised more than 200,000 towards a state-of-the-art scanner for the DRI.
Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust announced the latest running total for Scan For Life in its 2008 annual report.
Since we launched the appeal in July we have been inundated with calls about fundraising events during what has been a magnificent effort so far - culminating in a memorable Midnight Walk at Lakeside in October.
The charity has already pencilled in a number of events for 2009 including a memorabilia auction, crafts fair, Mansion House sherry morning and annual dinner.
Scan For Life was launched to raise enough money to buy DRI a new 64-slice scanner that will revolutionise the detection and treatment of cancer across the borough.
