PLANS for a pub and terrace of restaurants have been given the green light.

Doncaster Council’s planning committee on Tuesday gave unanimous backing to the scheme on the so-called Herten Triangle, which is bounded by Gliwice Way, the Asda superstore and Vue cinema complex car park.

Planning officer Nicola Elliott told members it would not have an unacceptable impact on Doncaster town centre, several food and drink operators had expressed interest in taking space on the site and 348 full and part-time jobs would be created.

The project’s architect, Andrew Gardner, allayed the council’s tree officer’s fears about the loss of seven or eight trees on the site by stating that more than 90 new trees would form part of the landscaping scheme.

The plans show a family pub next to The Dome roundabout and a terrace of five cafes running along the north side of the site, on Herten Way, facing towards the Vue complex, with over 200 parking spaces.
