MP supports tree boost to woodland

SOWING the seeds for a green future was Goole MP Ian Cawsey and pupils of Parkside Primary last week.

Mr Cawsey and the youngsters ventured outside to boost the school's woodland area.

Trees were supplied by Yellow Pages as part of a recycling initiative and the Woodland Trust for National Tree Week.

The woodland was started last year when every child in the school planted a tree as part of an environmentally-friendly project run by Kester Dean with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council Countryside Service.

Since then, new children have come to Parkside because of the closure of Pasture Primary and the school wanted to make sure that these new pupils had a chance to take part.

Ian Cawsey MP supported last week's event by lending a hand on tree planting day.

He said: "It was a pleasure to see the enthusiasm and commitment from the children to improve the environment. It was a privilege to be able to get involved."
