A TOTAL of 1,700 morning after pills were handed out in Doncaster in 2011.

Doncaster Primary Care Trust gave out the joint second highest amount of emergency contraception in the Yorkshire and Humberside period over the last year.

The care trust also spoke to more than 17,000 women and 3,600 men last year to offer contraceptive advice, the majority of who were under 20 years old.

The figures were released by the NHS in relation to their family planning clinics, GP services and volunteer contraceptive services around the country.
