MAYOR Peter Davies has pledged to investigate car crime outside Doncaster Royal Infirmary after being told trips to the hospital are ‘traumatising’.

At a packed council meeting, Mr Davies heard from a concerned member of the public who witnessed attacks on luxury cars parked outside the hospital on Armthorpe Road.

Tony McCready, of Wicklow Road, Intake, said the vehicles had been broken into, with cash and valuables inside the cars being protected by women pedestrians at the scene until drivers returned.

Mr Davies told the full council meeting that visiting the hospital was not a ‘high risk’ but that extra police patrols would be dispatched to monitor evenings and weekend problems.
