Man charged over Robin Hood Airport tweet 'threat'

A MAN arrested after an airport bomb threat was posted on Twitter has been charged with sending a menacing message.

Paul Chambers, of Byram Court, Woodfield Plantation, Balby, is due to appear at Doncaster Magistrates' Court tomorrow accused of the offence.

He is believed to be the first person to be charged for posting offensive messages on the social networking site.

The 26-year-old was arrested after he allegedly posted a threat on Twitter about blowing up Robin Hood Airport after snow threatened to disrupt his travel plans.

A police spokesman said: "A 26-year-old Doncaster man has been charged with sending by a public communications network a message that was grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character contrary to Section 127 of the Communications Act 2003."
