Library’s new email system for residents

CUSTOMERS of libraries across Barnsley can now register to receive their reminder notices by email.

Following the transfer to a new library management system, the service is now able to send its notices electronically to those borrowers who register to receive them in this way.

Councillor Jenny Platts, Cabinet Member for Adults and Communities at Barnsley Council, said the new service was one of many new improvements planned for the future.

She said: “If you would like to register to use this service please contact your local branch library or the Central Library and any of the team will be happy to help.

“In the next few months a text service will also be offered, with library customers able to choose their preferred option from those available.

“Pop into your local library to see what they have to offer - you’ll be surprised by the activities going on - the Summer Reading Challenge to encourage children to read over the holidays; author events and a long awaited Book Sale in September.”

Contact the Central Library on 01226 773911 or go to www.barnsley.gov.uk/libraries for further information about the new services.
