ELEVEN pupils from Trinity Academy at Thorne were given the chance to complete a fire service life course as part of the Neighbourhood Alliance activity in the area.
They were put through their paces at Thorne Fire Station with training in hose work, working in confined spaces, and the use of breathing apparatus.
PC Chris Plumridge, the police’s children and young persons’ officer, said: “This group of young people have been a pleasure to work with, remaining positive, whatever challenge they were given.
“Their self esteem, communication skills and sense of empowerment was evident and grew as the course progressed.”
