Leave your tribute to Doncaster soldier killed in Afghanistan

A SOLDIER from Doncaster has died after being shot during a fire fight with the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Rifleman Liam Maughan died from wounds received as a result of small arms fire which occurred near Sangin, in Helmand Province, on Saturday.

The 18-year-old, a member of 3rd Battalion The Rifles was described by his family as "a tall handsome six-footer."

The former Hatfield Visual Arts College pupil recently become a dad when his fiance gave birth. It is believed he never met his son.

His commanders described him as a keen, dedicated, courageous and loyal soldier.
