British Transport Police would like to trace this man in connection with an incident onboard a train travelling between Conisborough and Mexborough on Friday, January 4.

detectives have today released this image a man suspected of abusing a woman and beating up her friend on a train late at night.

Officers from British Transport Police want to speak to the man in connection with the altercation on a service between Conisbrough and Mexborough.

A group of friends from Doncaster on the train when a man charged towards a woman in the group. He verbally abused her while pointing his finger in her face. When the woman tried to push him away the man grabbed hold of her hair and shoved her into her friends.

One of the woman’s friends intervened but he was allegedly beat up and suffered bruising to his face and a cut lip.

The man was thrown off the train at Mexborough where he banged on the windows and continued to threaten the group.

Det Cons Andy Lehman said: “The man’s behaviour was utterly unacceptable and we are determined to find the person responsible.”

The altercation happened at around 11.30pm on Friday, January 4. The service was the 10.20pm Hull to Sheffield train.
