residents are being urged to vote for who they want as the county’s first ever police and crime commissioner.

The PCC will replace the county’s existing police authority, a cross-party group which oversees the way South Yorkshire Police is run.

Candidates will be announced this month and the election will be held in November.

Policing Minister Damian Green, Conservative MP for Ashford in Kent, said: “This is your chance to have your say in how policing is conducted, to ensure officers are doing the jobs you want to see carried out. PCCs will set the agenda for policing in South Yorkshire. They will hold officers and chief constables to account.”
