Fundraising walk for murder victim’s ‘beautiful little girl’

A SPONSORED walk is being organised to raise money for the two-year-old daughter of a Doncaster murder victim.
Devastated friends and family of 25-year-old Karl Smith are pulling together to bring in cash to help support his little daughter, Nakiah, and partner, Andrena.
Mr Smith, of Broughton Avenue in Bentley, died following an altercation near The Drum pub, just a few hundreds metres from his home, last weekend.
Close friend Lee Ingber is calling on people to sign-up to a sponsored walk to raise money to put in a fund in aid of Mr Smith’s “beautiful little girl”.
He said: “Karl was just the nicest guy you could meet. He was a gentle giant and he had many friends. We would like as many people as possible to come forward to help raise money.”
Lee, 29, of Stonehill Rise in Scawthorpe, is organising the walk from Meadowhall in Sheffield to the Frenchgate Centre in Doncaster on October 6, along with his wife Tammy, 30, and daughters Jodie, 13, and nine-year-old Caitlin.
He added: “We’ve already got about 73 names together and we’d really like to raise as much money as possible. We’re going to meet in the main Meadowhall carpark at 10am.”

Det Supt David Barraclough, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “We have had a very positive response from the public, and we would like to thank them for that. The local community is continuing to assist police in their inquiries.”
Further tributes have been paid to Leeds United fan Mr Smith, who worked at Cutts Recycling, on social networking sites Twitter and Facebook.
Tens of Mr Smith’s family and friends left tributes and flowers outside the The Drum in Watch House Lane, as well as outside his home - including messages from his family describing him as “the best brother and uncle”.
An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and released on police bail. Further tests are continuing into the circumstances around Mr Smith’s death after an initial post-mortem examination proved inconclusive.
Paramedics were called out to his home in the early hours of August 26.
It is understood that Mr Smith’s funeral may not be able to take place for up to six weeks while further post-mortem examinations take place.
Det Supt Barraclough renewed the police appeal for people to come forward with information into Mr Smith’s death.
