Freeze in council tax agreed at budget meeting

NORTH Lincolnshire’s budget has been set for the forthcoming financial year which which is being delivered with no increase in council tax for the third successive year.

Councillors have agreed how the loal authority will spend its budget in 2013/14. Most residents will pay the same for council services, but some living in town or parish council areas may see an increase in bills once the precept for grass roots councils are added.

It was agreed to spend £3 million acorss the county to repair potholes, and a similar sum to deliver faster broadband – with the promise of yet more cash to follow the year after.

Council Leader Liz Redfern, from Epworth, said: “We are hotting up the pace in the Humber to support businesses ands residents, and to try new ideas. This council is on the side of hard-working and vulnerable people.”
