First timer wins place in beauty contest final ten
A STUDENT who has never modelled before now has a chance to become the next Miss World.
Sarah-Louise Hart did not even know she had been entered into this year's Miss South Yorkshire competition because her photograph was submitted by her parents Adrian and Pauline.
So the 21-year-old of Todmorden Close, Denaby, was stunned to receive a call from organisers telling her she had beat off more than 2,000 other hopefuls to become just one of ten women through to the regional heat.
The winner at that stage will go on to the next round to contest the title of Miss England and the national finalist then has a chance to be crowned Miss World.
Sarah-Louise said: "I couldn't believe it when they said I was a finalist. My mum and dad have always tried to put me forward for things like this but I've always backed out because I imagined other girls to be stunning so I would never have a chance."
As well as aiming for modelling success ,the former Northcliffe School pupil is currently studying business administration at Doncaster College.
She previously completed a public service course at Dearne Valley College in a bid to boost her chances of joining the police.
Sarah-Louise added that her life had started to show similarities to that of Sandra Bullock's character Gracie Hart, an undercover officer who enters a beauty pageant in Hollywood rom-com Miss Congeniality.
"I never thought I had what it takes to be able to do it but I'm so pleased I'm in the finals," she said.
"I would be honoured to wear the Miss South Yorkshire crown and would take every opportunity they gave me with both hands."
The regional heat of the competition will take place at Doncaster Racecourse on April 18.
Finalists need to raise 200 in sponsorship and Sarah-Louise is hoping donors will come forward to support her.
Sponsors will have their name and logo displayed on race cards, racecourse television screens and the finalist's sash as well as on the Miss England and Miss World websites.
