Finals time for the accidental beauty queen

A BEAUTY therapy student is made-up after getting through to the finals of a beauty pageant that could take her to America.

Doncaster College student Amy Madin, 19, of Edlington, finished third in the heats of the Miss Beauty Queen 2008 finals in Nottingham to win a place in June's final in Liverpool.

The winner of the competition will go on to compete in Miss International in Chicago later this year.

But blonde Amy was surprised to hear that she had a place in the competition at all, after entering it by accident.

She said: "I had never really thought about modelling but I went onto a website and accidentally entered myself for the competition. I thought nothing of it but then three months later I got a phone call asking for photographs and then it took off from there.

"I was really nervous about competing but I think I did okay. It will be a lot harder in the finals though. Only my classmates at college and my family know about it at the moment, but I have a feeling that will change."

The competition is split up into different categories – Fashion Fun, Gym Wear, Evening Gown and Interview.

As a result of her success, Amy has been rewarded with a 12-month modelling contract with Maximum Management.
