Family adopt cat scolded by yobs

A STRAY cat was left for dead by yobs who threw scolding water over her in a sick attack.
John Longley discovered the stricken animal in the car park where he works.
Mr Longley and his wife Diane, who are cat breeders, took the moggy to a vet who first thought the cat’s injuries were so bad she would have to be put down.
But the animal has defied vets and is now recovering at the Longley’s family home in Wheatley Street, Denaby Main, along with the couple’s 22 cats and three dogs.
“No-one knows what happened to her but I think someone must have thrown boiling water over her, said Mr Longley, 53.
“Even with those injuries it took me all day to catch her because she kept going into nearby undergrowth.
“I eventually managed to entice her out with food, which she could smell.”
Mr Longley made the discovery in the car park of Enterprise Rent a Car in Rotherham, and took her to Abbey Vets in Barnsley.
After undergoing treatment the cat, which the Longleys have now called Kylie was allowed home with Mr Longley.
He said: “She’s settling in well and some of her fur is starting to grow back. She seems really happy when you consider what she has been through.
Mrs Longley, 50, a housewife, added: “I can’t imagine how anyone could do such a thing as to hurt an innocent, defenceless animal.
“It looks as though she had been very badly scolded.
“But she is doing so well now and is very friendly with our other animals.”
Vet Melanie Spencer-Marshall said: “She had dead or dying skin across her whole face and couldn’t see anything.
“Judging by the condition of the tissue, she must have been in that state for at least several days, so it’s a miracle that she wasn’t run over or attacked by other animals.
“When I peeled back the skin I saw that she still had her eyes, although there is some scarring to the cornea, and her muscles were not damaged, so we could save her.”
