MEDALS and certificates were handed out to young readers at the new Rawmarsh Library.

A bumper number of four to 11-year old school kids read six books over the summer period as part of the Story Lab - a summer reading challenge set by Rotherham Council’s libraries’ service.

There were rewards along the way for those who chose to spend some of their holiday time reading novels from a selection of recommended books, before the final ceremony took place.

All together, over 2,200 youngsters took part in the successful challenge across libraries in Rotherham.
