Examiners strike may hit driving tests
LEARNER drivers in Doncaster could have their tests cancelled today as some driving instructors go on strike.
Members of the Public and Commercial Services union (PCS) are staging a national 24-hour walkout over a dispute about pay.
The action is by PCS members across the Department of Transport which includes the Driving Standards Agency (DSA), the body responsible for driving tests.
It is believed some tests at the Doncaster test centre, in Shaftesbury Avenue, Intake, have already been cancelled.
However, the DSA has reassured learner drivers not all examiners are PCS members.
It is advising people with practical tests booked to attend so they can possibly take their exam.
Theory tests are not affected by the strike.
Candidates who turn up but are unable to take their practical driving test will have to contact DSA to re-book.
Regional centres controlling the flow of motorway traffic and the half yearly introduction of new number plates are also hit by the strike.
