A campaign has been launched in a bid to reduce the number of motorcyclists injured on the Isle’s roads.

Humberside Police is running its annual campaign called Operation Achilles which will see high visibility and unmarked speed patrols on roads in the area.

The scheme was launched in 2004 and has won road safety awards. When it launched 150 bikers were killed or seriously injured on the county’s roads. In 2001 that figure was 101, police said.

Police-led workshops to encourage bikers to take part in training courses will also be promoted.
