Dream date with JLS for brave teen Megan

Rays of Sunshine granted a wish for 15 year old Megan, from Edenthorpe, to meet pop group JLS.

Rays of Sunshine granted a wish for 15 year old Megan, from Edenthorpe, to meet pop group JLS.

A POORLY teenager had a Christmas to remember after meeting her pop idols JLS thanks to a children’s charity.

Megan Betts, 15, who has a implant for her deafness and attends regular hospital appointments after undergoing a kidney transplant at the age of two, had her wish granted by Rays of Sunshine.

It was VIP treatment all the way for Megan, of Ridgewood Avenue, Edenthorpe, who was taken by stretch limo to meet her idols who shot to fame on TV talent show the X-Factor.

As well as getting the chance to quiz Aston Merrygold, Oritsé Williams, JB Gill and Marvin Humes, Megan also performed with the awesome foursome.

The teen, who attends Communication Specialist College Doncaster and Hungerhill School, had learned how to sign along to hit single ‘Love you More’ - so the boys ended singing a capella whilst Megan signed.

And the superfan, who has already seen the boys perform twice on tour, is now hoping to sign on stage when JLS return to Sheffield Motorpoint Arena on tour.

Megan’s mum Stacey, 44, who is a manager at Communication Specialist College Doncaster, said: “When Megan found out she would get the chance to meet JLS she cried with happiness. She was in hospital at the time so it really cheered her up.

“The boys from JLS were really nice, Aston is her favourite and she was asking him about being a new judge on Got To Dance.

“Megan’s friends were all over the moon for her.

“I thought she would be star-stuck but she was surprisingly confident, I was the one giggling like a schoolgirl in the background.

“The charity were so amazing. We had a stretch limo, a tour of London, a meal at Planet Hollywood and they even sent Megan £50 to get a new outfit to wear for the day. It was lovely.

“We are hoping Megan will get the chance to sign on stage with JLS on the next tour.”

Megan, who has aspirations of becoming a photographer, is currently having monthly check ups to monitor her condition but is said to be doing well.
