a WOMAN from Doncaster has died in a car crash.

A 25-year-old man, also from the borough, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a car overturned killing the 24-year-old passenger.

The couple were travelling between Whitby and Pickering in North Yorkshire when the driver is believed to have lost control of the car, police said.

The vehicle overturned before resting on its side in a field near Fylingdales Moor.

The woman was airlifted to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough where she was pronounced dead. The driver sustained minor injuries.

The crash happened at about 3pm yesterday.

A police spokesman said the driver had been released on bail pending further inquiries
