DONCASTER Council is reminding residents about changes to bin and recycling collections over the Christmas period.

Collection days will remain the same and residents should ensure that their bin, box and sacks are put out before 7.30am, and taken in when emptied, but:

Week commencing 17 December will be a borough-wide black bin week

Week commencing 24 December there will be NO COLLECTIONS

Week commencing 31 December will be a borough-wide black bin week

Please refer to your bin collections calendar for week commencing 7 January for details of your green/black bin weeks.

If you no longer have the bin collection calendar that was posted through your door, you can download a copy at: www.doncaster.gov.uk/mydoncaster

Deputy Mayor, Councillor Cynthia Ransome, who is the Cabinet Member for Communities; Street Scene; Environmental Protection; Waste and Recycling, said: “We recognise that for many people Christmas means visitors, Christmas dinners, presents and extra waste in their black bins and so we have a number of additional black bin collection weeks over the holidays to help accommodate this extra waste.

“Much of our extra waste at Christmas can be recycled, so please remember to use your green box as well for things like cans, bottles and cardboard. Should you have more recycling than your box can hold, Household Waste Recycling Centres across Doncaster will open daily during the holiday season, except for 25 and 26 December and 1 January and residents can also make use of a number of recycling sites in locations such as supermarket car parks across the borough.”

For more information about Christmas bin collections and recycling, call Doncaster Council on 01302 736000 or visit www.doncaster.gov.uk/recycling.

Alternatively, text your enquiry to 71006, including your name, house name or number and postcode in your text (texts are charged at your standard network rate and some networks may charge a premium).
