Death crash causes traffic chaos
A MINIBUS crash in which a teenager was killed and nine others were injured caused rush hour traffic chaos for commuters travelling into Doncaster.
The 18-year-old man was travelling with eight other teenagers when their vehicle was in a collision with a white Mercedes van between junction 31 and 32 on the M1 near Thurcroft.
The minibus turned on its side during the crash which happened when the group were returning from taking part in the Anti-Racism football World Cup in Bologna, Italy.
The eight injured teenagers were taken to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
Two of them, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to the hospital.
The driver of the minibus, a 40-year-old Sheffield man, also received minor injuries. He was arrested and bailed on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The M1 motorway was closed northbound at junction 32 where the motorway joins the M18 until 7pm.
Police have not released names of the people involved in the collision.
