Crash girl now stable

A ONE-year-old girl left with life-threatening head injuries in a crash which left another passenger dead is now in a stable condition in hospital.
The youngster, from Wath, was injured when the BMW 316 Compact she was a passenger in pulled out of a lay-by on Great North Road, Rotherham and began a U-turn manoeuvre in the path of an oncoming lorry.
The BMW spun off the road, struck a road sign and ended up on a grass verge.
Passenger Luke Hardwick, aged 18, died in the smash while the one-year-old girl was taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital, where she remains.
The driver of the car – a 36-year-old man - was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed until the end of March.
The crash occurred on December 20.
