The NSPCC is calling for urgent action to stamp out the illegal trade in child abuse images after figures revealed over 1.4 million have been confiscated by Humberside Police in the last two years.

Only five of England’s and Wales’ police forces provided data, after a freedom of information request by the children’s charity.

The request found nearly 26 million images have been confiscated in England and Wales over the last two years. Gordon Ratcliffe from the NSPCC said: “We’re asking Government and internet providers to look at this and take urgent action to do something about stamping it out.”
