Charity challenges boost Scan for Life

CARING fundraisers have again boosted our Scan for Life appeal, this time with nearly £4,000 raised from just two events.

Mark Torrington gave Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust the 1,100 he and his dad Mark raised following their 192-mile coast to coast walk from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood's Bay in Whitby.

The Scawthorpe resident was joined in the Mansion House by Norton friends Diane Williams and Freda Sullivan who donated their 2,600 they made after holding a dinner.

All proceeds from Saturday's open-air concert at Walkers Nurseries in Blaxton, will go to the appeal. Acts include violinist Alexandra Parker, McAuley Catholic High School, Rainbow Connection and Doncaster Ladies Choir, Two Grand and Jo and Baz Copley. Gates open from 6pm.

Our appeal is run in conjunction with Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust in a bid to raise 600,000 for a state-of-the-art cancer scanner.

Scan for Life donations can be paid directly into the appeal's account at Co-operative Bank in St Sepulchre Gate, account number 50326679. Alternatively call in at DCDT's shop in East Laith Gate or ring 01302 349177. People with fundraising events can email them into us at editorial@doncastertoday.co.uk
