Cash injection for garden project

A COMMUNITY garden project in Mexborough has received a cash injection of £10, 000 from a Lottery grant scheme.

The Daisy Meadows scheme, based at the Adwick Road allotments, gained the money from Awards For All.

It will be used by Mexborough Community Partnership to pay for a part-time worker to lead activity sessions at the site.

Project co-ordinator Chris Phillips said: “It was great to receive the funding and it is vital to keep the project going.

“It has been going for nearly ten years now and we take groups of school children there and people from community organisations to teach them about gardening and other allotment keeping skills.”

Mexborough Councillor Sue Phillips added: “This is a great project for all of the community and funding means we can continue thje good work up there.”
