Dearne Valley College (DVC) is offering school leavers a new innovative Construction Skills course.

The Construction Skills department at the Wath-based College have designed a new course ready for September 2012.

The new CSkills Building Craft Occupations course is to encompass various construction trades so youngsters sample different skills and trades before deciding which area they would like to develop their skills in further.

Trade areas include; brickwork, carpentry and joinery, painting and decorating, plastering, wall and floor tiling and basic aspects of plumbing.

Richard Ellis, Programme Area Manager for Construction Skills, commented:

“The new course aims to encourage youngsters, who are undecided about which construction trade to specialise in, to try a variety of different trades. By learning various skills, the course will hopefully help youngsters make the right choice and help them to start a career in the construction industry”.

Dearne Valley College are now accepting applications for many courses starting September 2012.
