BREAKING NEWS: 21-year-old prisoner on the run in Hatfield

A POLICE helicopter is currently scouring the Hatfield area in search of a 21-year-old who has absconded from a prison site.
A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police confirmed that the man had left a youth offenders’ institution in Hatfield at about 2.30pm.
She said: “The man is not believed to be a danger to the public but if anyone sees him, they should contact the police immediately.”
Several concerned residents have called the Free Press saying that they have seen a huge amount of police activity in the area in the past two hours and people have taken to social networking sites to say police helicopters have been over Armthorpe.
One caller reported seeing up to 12 police cars scouring the area - including along Old Thorne Road and Hatfield Marina.
