Breaking news: teenager arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

pOLICE have arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was seriously injured in an assault at Mexborough.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses after the alleged incident at around 7.30am on Friday, November 23 at Spencer Street in Mexborough, where a man sustained serious injuries to his chest.
The teenager has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
It is believed a group of males were seen in the area of Spencer Street and Wath Street at the time and police would like to speak to them as they may hold vital information and be able to assist officers with their enquiries.
Anyone with any information or who believes they may have witnessed the alleged incident is urged to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 175 of the 23 November 2012. Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
