Teaching assistant Rachel Peters of Edlington, at Doncaster Crown Court for sentence after being convicted of sexual offences against a 13 year old boy.

A TEACHING assistant who sexually abused a 13-year-old boy has been jailed for more than three years.

Rachel Peters, 41, sobbed uncontrollably as she was branded a “predator” by Judge Jacqueline Davies at Doncaster Crown Court this morning.

After denying a Facebook friend request from the schoolboy - who cannot be named for legal reasons - Peters began to talk with him on MSN Messenger and at one point showed him her breast and courted sympathy by lying and saying her former partner had terminal cancer.

She also picked the boy up in her car and took him to a secluded spot, where she performed a sex act upon him before having full intercourse.

Peters pleaded guilty to one count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and two of engaging in sexual activity with a child on June 19 of this year.

Sentencing Peters, of Kennington Grove in Edlington, to three years and three months behind bars, Judge Davies said: “The author of your pre-sentence report has stated that he feels you pose a high risk of serious harm to children, particularly teenage boys.

“You have abused the trust placed in you. He said your behaviour has been predatory and I agree. As a mother of a daughter of a similar age I would hope you would appreciate the wrongness of this offence.”

Steven Crossley, mitigating, said that Peters had suffered at the hands of abusive partners in the past and had shown a lot of remorse for her actions.
