Breaking News: Explosions rip through Doncaster school

EXPLOSIONS ripped through a Doncaster school as fire took hold early today.

Ten fire engines and five special appliances are currently at Edlington School where the four-storey science block is ablaze.

Police who were called out around 6am say that there have been several explosions at the Tait Avenue site.

No-one has been evacuated though people living in nearby flats have left their homes. People living in Old Edlington , which is under a shroud of heavy smoke, have been told to stay in doors and keep windows and doors closed because of asbestos fears.

The fire is in the old school building which closed at the end last term ready for the new school – on the same site – to open later this week.
