Arson attack
Fire Engine on call
COSTLY machinery was blown up in an attack on a Thurnscoe business yard on Sunday.
Firefighters spent an hour quelling the blaze at J. Edwards Waste Management on Albion Drive, from 6.15pm.
General manager Shaun Young told the Times: “We have studied the CCTV recording and saw a person break through the fence, climb in to the driver’s cab of a JCB 426 shovel, light a petrol bomb and jump out.
“It’s caused about £30,000 worth of damage and disrupted our work pattern for the week. We don’t know who’s responsible. We are a friendly company and we work alongside other skip companies.
“It’s the first such incident we’ve had.”
Police continue to investigate.
