A brave little girl with an incurable disease has had her wish to swim with dolphins in America granted thanks to generous fundraisers.

People all across the borough dug deep to help raise the £10,000 target for seven-year-old Abigail Cook and her family to jet off to Florida.

The trip of a lifetime was top of Abigail’s ‘bucket list’ which she compiled after being diagnosed with rare terminal condition Batten’s Disease. Abigail’s mum Lindsey, 35, of Warmsworth, said: “Abigail absolutely loved it she didn’t stop smiling the whole trip, she was just in awe of everything. “We can’t thank people enough for all their help.”

Abigail still has other wishes she wants to make come true including taking a family holiday to Tenerife and a trip to see Father Christmas in Lapland.
