Good causes in Doncaster received £4.2 million of National Lottery funding in 2012, reveal newly released figures.

Now projects and any of the organisations which received lottery cash in the last 18 years can gain national recognition for their work as the National Lottery Awards 2013 opens for entries.

A total of 43 grants were awarded in the area, to local arts, sport and heritage projects and community groups helping the area’s most vulnerable people.

The 2012 grants included £8,526 to Home-Start Doncaster to improve the diets of families with children under five, and £199,286 to Doncaster Housing for Young People for their work supporting homeless young people.
