A 58-year-old Doncaster man has been jailed for possession of 1800 indecent images of children, following a court hearing.

Steven Paul-Davis, of Swinburne Avenue, Doncaster, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday to receive his sentence after he pleaded guilty to possession of indecent images of children at an earlier hearing.

Paul-Davis was jailed for 18 months for the offences.

Police began investigating Paul-Davis in 2014 after they received information that suggested he was in possession of indecent images of children.

Following a raid at his house in May 2014, where officers seized his electrical devices, a high number of indecent images were recovered.

Speaking after the sentencing, Detective Sergeant Matthew Bolger said strong action would be taken to protect young people from harm in these cases.

He added: “Indecent images are categorised into varying levels of severity from Category A to Category C, A being the worst.

“Forensic analysis of Paul-Davis’ electronics showed he had around 1800 indecent images and over 500 videos on several hard drives, some of which were Category A.

“This type of crime is completely unacceptable and we take strong action when we receive reports of this nature, to protect children and young people from harm.” Paul-Davis was also given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
