A man has suffered serious facial injuries in a spectacular car crash near Askern, Doncaster.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened around 8.25pm on Thursday on Moss Road when a car ended up on its roof.

Two men were injured when a green Skoda Octavia, travelling towards Askern, left the road at a right-hand bend, 400 yards the Askern side of the railway crossing.

The car went into a water-filled ditch and travelled on its side for around 50ft, before hitting an object and being catapulted back onto the road – but upside down.

A 41-year-old, from Moss Road, Askern, suffered serious facial injuries and has been detained in hospital in Sheffield.

The other man, a 36-year-old from Gargrave Close, Askern, sustained slight injuries. He was also treated at hospital but not detained.

Fire crews also attended but neither man was trapped.
