This family had more reason than most to celebrate a new arrival earlier this year.

When little Evelyn Johnson, now aged five months, was born in May she became the fifth generation of her family.

Head of the family is 92-year-old Winsome Cannon, was born in South Kirkby, West Yorkshire in 1922.

She has recently moved to Pinner, Middlesex.

In 1944, she had a daughter, Jan Taylor, now aged 70 and living in Snaith.

Twenty years later in 1964, Jan had a daughter, Jill Johnson, age 50, living in Sykehouse,

Her daughter, and Evelyn’s mum, Robyn Johnson was born in 1988.

She is now 26 and living in Edenthorpe with her partner.

Jan said Winsome is proud to be at the head of the family.

“She’s over the moon to be great, great grandma.”

“She loves children, especially her own,” she said.

Although they are close, the family do not have many chances to be together all at the same time, owing to them living in different parts of the country, but Jan said they try see each other as often as they can.
