A father-daughter duo are saddling up for a 220-mile pedal power challenge.
Michelle Ryder and her dad, David Galley, are preparing to cycle from Sheffield to London this weekend to raise money for charity.
The pair are collecting donations for the Ronald McDonald House in Tooting, a facility which provides free accommodation for families who have children being treated at St George’s Hospital in south London.
Michelle, aged 37, and her husband Paul stayed in the accommodation for four months in 2011 when their newborn son, William, was born 13 weeks early weighing just 1lb 3oz and needed treatment at St George’s.
Michelle said: “William’s birth was difficult and the weeks that followed were filled with uncertainty. Paul and I were so grateful that we didn’t have to worry, on top of everything else, about finding somewhere to stay.”
Michelle and David, aged 60, are also raising funds for the neo-natal unit at St George’s Hospital and Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
They hope to reach London on Sunday and will be supported en route by Paul along with Michelle’s mum, Gloria.
