Doncaster Council’s tough stance on people committing littering and smoking offences has resulted in a further 30 prosecutions with some of the convicted individuals having to pay as much as £345 in costs and fines and a further £20 in Victim Surcharges.

Councillor Joe Blackham, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Enforcement and Trading Services said: “Dropping litter and smoking in restricted areas is not something we take lightly as we strive to make Doncaster a better place for everyone. People are aware of the rules and choosing to break them will result in punishment for their actions. We work hard to ensure that Doncaster is kept presentable and tidy and that is why we have an ample amount of litter bins available for residents. We will continue to clamp down on unacceptable behaviour.”
