The countdown to Christmas is set to begin in Doncaster next week, when hundreds of people are expected to gather to see this year’s festive light display being switched on.

The lights will be switched on outside the Corn Exchange on Thursday, November 13, when the new market square will also be officially opened to the public after a £1million renovation.

Festivities will get underway from 5pm, and the lights will be officially switched on by Doncaster Civic Mayor, Pat Haith, at 6.30pm.

Attractions on the night will include a jazz Santa parade, the cast of Aladdin, a fun fair, entertainment between 5-10pm and appearances from well-loved snow princesses.
