Staff at the Doncaster branch of Leeds Building Society are raising cash to prevent deaths among the elderly.

Employees joined forces to support Age UK’s Spread the Warmth campaign by promoting the charity’s Bobble Day, its winter fundraiser, by selling bobble badges for a suggested donation of £1.

Branch manager Melissa Foulis said: “We are delighted to be supporting Age UK with their campaign.”

Laurie Boult, Age UK’s head of fundraising, said: “This winter 24,000 older people may not survive the cold weather – that’s 200 deaths a day that could be prevented.

“All money raised from Bobble Day will help to help keep older people warm and well this winter.”
