A STEADY stream of buyers have bagged medical equipment bargains and contributed £1,600 to repairing the roof of Misterton’s church – thanks to good neighbour Alan King.
He’s a Misterton resident and owner of Gainsborough company Calandine Lifts, and gave the church a substantial number of items his company no longer needed – including sticks, mobility scooters, bed protector sheets, pillows and lots more.
“He’s a marvellous man,” said sale organiser Jane Moffett. “Thanks to his generosity, and the people who came along to buy things, we now have just over £2,800 to find for our fund,” she added.
The sale ran for two days, during which time ladies from the village supplied tea and cakes. “They need a pat on the back too, but rarely get one,” added Jane.
With almost £30,500 raised for the fund, important repair work has been completed on the north side of the roof, where it protects the organ and the boiler. “We also have a very sophisticated alarm system too,” she added.
There is still a quantity of medical equipment available, all brand new but at less than cost price. Further details from Jane on 07798 747234.
