Enjoy freshly cooked fish – or a tasty alternative – with a free pot of tea for two in the Isle’s oldest fish and chip shop.

Epworth’s Ocean 52 fish and chip shop on High Street has teamed up with the Epworth Bells for this week’s great offer, in their cheerful new seating area.

Just fill in the printed coupon from this week’s Bells and hand it to one of Ocean 52’s friendly staff to enjoy your free pot of freshly brewed Yorkshire tea when you sit to eat in the coastal-themed seating area that can accommodate up to 16 people.

Run by Isle couple Ian and Jeannette McConnachie, Ocean 52 sells super-fresh fish that can be grilled to order if preferred. Wet fish is sold too, and the McConnachies’ special batter is a real treat, along with a gluten-free batter that is available to those who suffer from allergy.

All hot choices at Oceans 52 are fried in the best vegetable medium, and you can buy home-made fish cakes, lamb kebabs, chicken and grilled burgers. All can be enjoyed at Ocean 52’s tables.

People travel quite a way to relish fish and chips in Epworth. “We have regulars from as far as Selby, Thorne and many other places,” said Mr McConnachie. “We had been asked about a seating area so often we decided to transform our sitting room in to one for customers to enjoy, and it is proving very popular.

“People tell us they feel like they’ve gone for a trip to the coast, which is great.”

Pukka pies are available in a range of flavours, along with jacket potatoes and different fillings, fresh salad boxes and traditional steamed steak and kidney puddings.

Customers can also take advantage of lunchtime meal deals, special children’s menus that include free toys in serving boxes, and vegetarian options.

Opening times at Ocean 52 are from 4.45 to 8pm on Mondays, 11.30am to 1.30pm and 4.45pm to 8.30pm from Tuesday to Friday, then on Saturdays from 11.30am to 1.45pm and 4.30pm to 8pm.

Experienced fryers Ian and Jeannette take great pride in the cleanliness of their shop and quality of food.

Ian said: “We love being here and being part of the community. We believe we are one of the most recognised fish and chip shops across the area.”

Enjoy your free pot of tea for two when eating in until next Wednesday, September 9.
