Conisbrough and Denaby councillor Christine Mills has been appointed to a role in the cabinet of new Doncaster mayor Ros Jones.
The Labour councillor’s portfolio is for environment and waste.
She is part of a nine strong cabinet team that will held the mayor to develop policies and make important council decisions.
Mayor Jones, said: “I have assembled a very strong cabinet which will help drive Doncaster forward over the next four years.
“Each cabinet member brings important qualities and talents to the team, is passionate and fully committed to doing what is best for Doncaster residents. “
She added: “I look forward to working closely with my team to protect vital services, have one voice for veterans, create jobs and apprenticeships, attract new investment and tackle antisocial behaviour.
“We face some significant challenges, particularly the financial constraints we will have to work to.
“But I have full confidence that this talented team will deliver for the town.”
Coun Mills has served as the civic mayor of Doncaster for the last year.
She has previously served in the cabinet as member for homes and housing.
Coun Mills also sits on the board of St Leger Homes.
The first cabinet meeting is planned to take place on May 22.
