A 100-YEAR-OLD has celebrated her centenary surrounded by friends and family.

Daisy Edwards, who lives at the Old Rectory Nursing Home in Church Street, Armthorpe, had a party to celebrate her milestone day which featured a special visit from Mayor of Doncaster Peter Davies, who came armed with a card and box of chocolates. Mrs Edwards was also treated to a glass of champagne for the occasion.

Her son John, 67, explained his mum had been let go from her first ever job after a week for “larking around” before going on to work at Peglers and then working in a munitions factory during the Second World War.

Mrs Edwards was born in Highfields and has lived in Woodlands and Adwick.
