Cyclist in hospital after crash near St George's Bridge

A woman is in a serious but stable condition after a crash in Doncaster last night.

Police were called to reports of a collision in Doncaster at about 6.45pm yesterday evening (Monday May 2).

It is reported that a grey Peugeot 307 was in collision with a cyclist at St Mary’s Roundabout, close to the junction with New Bridge Road.

The cyclist, a woman in her 40s, suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision. She currently remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The driver of the car was not injured during the incident.

St George's Bridge was closed off last night by police and the air ambulance called in after the incident.

According to eye witnesses, the Bentley end of the new bridge was closed off shortly before 7pm and a number of police cars, ambulances and fire engines were at the scene.
