The Tour de France will start in Yorkshire in 2014 bringing millions of fans to the Yorkshire roadside to cheer on the champions of the sport.
To mark the occasion Doncaster Museum Service is planning to stage a cycling exhibition at Cusworth Hall.
It will look at all things cycling and celebrate that proud childhood milestone of the first bike.
The Museum Service is asking people to send in images of themselves with their first bike. It is also asking people to contact them if they have an interesting bike, or bicycle related memorabilia, which they might be willing to lend to the exhibition.
Councillor Bob Johnson, Cabinet Member for Culture and Tourism, said: “This exhibition will coincide with the world’s greatest cycle race and next year is set to be the best yet as The Grand Départ 2014 is in Yorkshire.
“I hope people will take up the invitation to share images of themselves with their first bikes – whether it is a sparkling Raleigh Chopper, a rusty old hand-me-down or a state of the art BMX bike.”
